The Second Job

May 8th, 2008 at 03:03 pm

I haven't really had anything to post so I figured I'd post about this second job. All my life I swore I would never work 2 jobs....I was always better than that. Now I am and it's not insulting. It's nothing big... it's just a part time job at Macy's which is 3 hours maybe 3 days a week. Right now as I'm still trying to get use to it, it is a drain. I work 8:30-5:30 at my regular job and then 6-9:15 afterwards. I really hate being away from my 2 year old but at the same time, I know he's not going to be any better with his family being overcome with debt. I'm just hoping this little bit at a time will help put a huge dent in these credit cards.

I'm really tempted to work part-time on a second job too. Thanks for reminding me to look into it again! And good for you for doing it!

I am also going to get a second job to help fund our wood floors and carpet fund. My DH is now working special events (sport games, concerts and conventions) as security for a second job. There is no shame to this and it is a great way to pay debt down faster. Remember this only a temporary situation to conquer your debt.

i dont understand why you would think having two jobs is bad? why would it be any different than having one job with a lot of hours? i fail to see how anyone can be 'better than that'.
i work at two part time jobs: i am a cake decorator/pastry chef three days a week and a bookkeeper/payroll officer two days a week. i have done this for four years. i have weekends off and am usually home by 4pm.
